It’s a D.A.T.E! Thisisantwerp’s creative guide to Belgium’s hidden diamond
Antwerp, our diamond city, has a lot to offer: from cosy coffee bars hidden in discrete nooks of every neighbourhood, to renowned musea with international art on display and designers that have been setting fire to the fashion industry for years. It comes as no surprise then that Thisisantwerp, Visit Antwerp’s alternative travel and culture magazine, wanted to highlight the city’s versatility and the creativity that runs through its veins with an innovative project called D.A.T.E.
Discover Antwerp Through Experience – code name D.A.T.E. – gave 13 creatives from all over Europe the chance to explore Belgium’s hidden gem and creative hub off the beaten path for a week. Together with Thisisantwerp and We Come As Friends, Walkie Talkie created a fitting concept and cherrypicked 13 lucky illustrators, painters, writers and photographers. For the first time during this 3rd edition of D.A.T.E., 6 of them got the opportunity to work together with local artists and co-create a series of artworks inspired by each other’s art. The fruits of their labor were on exhibit in the beautiful co-working space Fosbury & Sons.
